When you order takeout from your favorite Chinese restaurant on the weekends, have you ever wondered where those fortune cookies come from? Spoiler alert: they aren't from Asia. This little vanilla-flavored cookie carries the Asian immigrant story of survival, innovation, and perseverance in times of hardship.
